It’s official.

I was sworn in by the Colorado Supreme Court yesterday afternoon.  I am now officially an attorney.  Yay!  Congrats again to all of my newly sworn-in colleagues.

Sorry that may be a little harsh – I only saw two Rogers on the list and neither had your last name (or what I’m assuming to be your last name, based on your e-mail address attached to your comments).  I’d be happy to hear that I’m wrong – I really don’t wish failing the bar exam on anyone.

World Series, Baby

It is official.  The Colorado Rockies have made it to the World Series.  It’s pretty exciting – the World Series is going to be in MY city.  It’s great, but because I don’t yet have a full-time job (ugh!), we can’t afford to go.  Blech.  Denver is going to be electric though, and it will be fun to experience a championship city again.

When the Spurs won the NBA Championship in the past, San Antonio went nuts.  It was such a good feeling to be there and have your team win!  And since my team (the Yankees) are no longer in the chase, I’m rooting for the home team.  So, GO ROCKIES!!

Retired Porn Stars and Aliens

As I was driving downtown today, I saw some bums people down on their luck with the following signs:

• Flat Broke, Retired Porn Star
• UFO Down, Need Parts

There are all kinds in Denver.

Blech.

The Yankees are out.  Maybe next year.

Yankees fans, put your rally caps on!

The Yankees need a win tonight.  BUT, they are currently down 6-1 in the top of the 6th inning.  So, put your rally caps on and root for the Yanks!

On this day in 1956, Don Larsen, a New York Yankee, pitched the only perfect game in the history of the World Series.  Larsen was pitching against the Dodgers in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series.  He threw only 97 pitches and the Yankees beat the Dodgers 2-0.  In the post-season, this feat had never happened before, nor has it happened since.  GO YANKEES!

In other baseball news, the Colorado Rockies swept the Phillies and are headed to the NLCS against the Diamondbacks.  This is the first time in franchise history that the Rockies have made it this far.  I’m cheering for them to win and go to the World Series.  How cool would that be?  The only thing that would make it cooler – if my boyfriend Derek Jeter came to visit me because the Yankees were in town to face the Rocks for the Fall Classic.  Oh, did I say that?  Go Yanks!

Today is the day . . .

Or so I’ve been led to believe.  My heart is racing, my stomach is churning.  And I’m not the only one.  I’m freaking out to say the least.  Isn’t this over yet?

And the Rockies are in!

I stayed up too late watching the conclusion of the Rockies-Padres game last night, as I’m sure most of Denver did as well. In the top of the 13th inning, after being tied 6-6 for several innings, the Padres went up 8-6 on a homerun by Hairston. The Rockies had some catching up to do to say the least. In the end, Kaz Matsui, Troy Tulowitzki (who is a big fan of my favorite player, Derek Jeter), and Matt Holliday (on a controversial slide into home plate where he might not have actually ever touched the plate) won the game for the Rockies. It’s the first time since 1995 that the Rockies have made it to the playoffs and only the second time in the team’s history. Go Rocks (until you have to play the Yanks, anyway)!

In the home stretch . . .

Only two days until bar exam results are released here in Colorado and I just wanted to say good luck to all of us waiting in the days ahead. It’s a short and sweet buena suerte because I’m watching the Rockies play the Padres in an intense tie-breaking game to see who gets the wild card seat in the playoffs. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Yankees fan (always have been), but I live in Denver, and until the Yanks are facing the Rocks, I can cheer on the home team. Go Rockies!!
